The 2025 Myanmar Short Term Missionary trip is drawing to a close. Tomorrow will be the last day we get to spend time with the children. I wish time could pause at this moment, so that these days filled with love and laughter could last just a little longer.
Here in Silver Lining Family Villege, the air is filled with the joyful laughter of children. Every day, we are surrounded not only by their innocence and enthusiasm, but also by God’s faithful servants. Each day is a lesson in learning to let go of ourselves, to humble our hearts, and to be willing to be used by God and become His faithful servants.
For example, the gentle Meixiang runs around every day to help us and serves as our interpreter. Although we don’t understand Burmese, we are deeply drawn by her soft and soothing voice. Her translations are full of emotion, with a natural rhythm and intonation. She once shared with me how she accompanied a seriously ill child to Hong Kong for medical treatment. During that time, she learned Cantonese and is now able to do basic translation.
Another example is Pastor’s son, Ah Hou. He can serve as a butcher, the village’s driver, teacher in the classroom, a big brother to the children, etc. In him, we see how nothing is impossible when one uses the gifts God has given.
The faithful servants here never say “no.” They quietly observe the needs around them and willingly offer themselves. If they don’t know something, they learn it immediately. They have both faith and action. Truly, they are role models for us to learn from.

Today was another day filled with joy, gladness, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and spiritual nourishment from God.
This morning’s devotion question led us to deeply reflect on how we can keep this spiritual fire burning. I felt truly filled with the Holy Spirit.

At the Home Village, during Jasmine’s storytelling and writing class, one of the “mothers” tearfully shared a true story about a little girl that deeply moved everyone. This little girl and her three siblings came to the Home Village from a remote, impoverished village. Back in the countryside, they often didn’t have enough to eat, hunger was a part of everyday life.
When she first arrived at the Home Village, the little girl would still the food the “mother” had prepared for tomorrow and sneak into the bathroom at night to eat secretly. She didn’t understand the feeling of fullness. All she knew was that whenever there was food, she had to eat as much as she could, as if her stomach could never be satisfied.
The “mother” saw this and felt very sad in her heart. She wept her tears and prayed for the girl. Thank God! Over time, the child gradually learned self-control and what it meant to be full. Now, she is able to eat and drink normally.
This story prompted us to reflect: Do we understand what it means to be satisfied? Have we prayed for God to teach us contentment? Or are we constantly driven by desire, chasing after things we don’t actually need, while forgetting to put God first in our lives?
In the afternoon, Teacher Joanne 「早安老師」led a class that was once again filled with laughter and energy. The children’s singing and laughter lifted her fatigue. Seeing these children with their dreams, willing to lift those dreams up to God and let Him lead, filled her heart with endless gratitude.
At the Home, being able to meet the “little angel” I sponsor in person, step into her living environment, give her a hug, and speak a word of encouragement — it was truly a moment of indescribable joy and deep gratitude.
After dinner, we gathered again to worship God. The children’s voices in song made me feel as though I were in heaven. Pastor Andy’s message, as always, was rich and nourishing to the soul. When he gave an altar call, the children responded with raised hands, and the team prayed over each and every one of them with blessing.
We thought the day had ended in grace, but the best was yet to come!
A surprise birthday party was held for Mark. Surely one of the most unforgettable birthdays of his life! Through his joy, we too received overflowing happiness and blessings. Everyone grabbed the cream from the cake and started to pie faces. The cream marked a symbol of blessing and love.
This, truly, is heaven on earth.
